Ground Penetrating Radar for Concrete Scanning and Inspection

In order to find hidden underground issues, like faulty plumbing or termite infestations, you need Ground Penetrating Radar services from a company with many years of experience in this field. With reliable concrete scanning from experts who know what they’re doing, you can feel confident that your home or building’s foundation isn’t compromised and that no hidden problems are going unaddressed. Here’s how you can get the best GPR services available to help you resolve any concrete scanning concerns today!

Concrete is one of our most common building materials, but it’s not all created equal. A variety of factors are needed to produce high-quality concrete. When used in pavement construction, for example, quality can be incredibly important due to traffic weight on top of it. Using GPR scanning for concrete can give you much-needed insight into what’s beneath your feet so you know if you have a crack in your foundation or a fracture in your sidewalk before they cause major damage to your home or business.

What is GPR?

Ground penetrating radar, or gpr testing concrete, is an imaging technology that has been used in a wide range of industries, but most commonly in utilities. A GPR system works by sending out radio waves into underground structures. When these radio waves hit an object underground (such as a utility line), they reflect back to a receiver on top of your vehicle. The object then appears as an image on a screen which you can view through binoculars or goggles. This type of concrete scanning has many benefits including being non-destructive and able to be used day or night. Because it doesn’t involve physically digging up pipes or cables while using GPR scanning, it also limits safety hazards while increasing accuracy of locating what’s below ground level.

What is GPR Good For?

GPR is a non-invasive surface penetrating radar technique that’s perfect for concrete scanning. It can be used to detect voids, cracks, anomalies, rebar corrosion, or any number of other problems you need to monitor or verify during construction projects. With GPR, you can immediately assess whether there are problems with a structure without actually having to tear anything apart. This saves time and money on jobsites when compared to traditional probing techniques.

How Can I Use GPR?

Once you have your GPR equipment, how do you use it? One of my favorite uses of ground penetrating radar is concrete scanning. Before installing any electrical conduits or construction materials into concrete, it’s a good idea to scan its inside structure. This can help ensure that they’re installed correctly. If there are voids within your concrete foundation walls, moisture could leak through those cracks and cause serious damage in your home or office later on down the road. What type of surface penetrates? GPR was originally designed to penetrate solid surfaces (such as earth) with electromagnetic pulses to determine sub-surface content.

What Does It Do Better Than Other Technologies?

Unlike other concrete scanning methods such as ultrasonic or magnetic induction, ground penetrating radar is capable of identifying a greater range of problems in concrete structures. For example, even if there are no visual cracks on a slab’s surface, GPR can still find signs of settlement or voids beneath that surface which could lead to cracking. In addition to revealing structural flaws invisible to other scanning technologies, GPR can also detect many materials found inside buildings. Materials like rebar, which makes up most concrete reinforcement bars, are not visible under any other technology currently available.
